We meet Eve and Anthony who married at Nutfield Priory Hotel & Spa in Surrey with a Scottish autumnal theme.
I had been to Nutfield Priory for afternoon tea with my parents so when Anthony proposed I suggested we go and visit it again as a potential wedding venue. We attended an open day and were instantly impressed by the stunning stained glass windows and the intimacy of The Library which is perfect for a smaller wedding. The welcome from the staff was so warm, we instantly had 'that feeling'.
The hotel in Surrey was also really convenient for our guests, some who would be arriving at Gatwick airport, and the hotel were not put off by the short turnaround from booking to wedding in just 5 months - as Anthony is a headmaster we needed to get married in the school holidays!
We also loved the Fielden Suite where we had our reception, it is a beautiful room with its own bar, toilets and outside patio (useful even though it was October!) so we felt like we had the hotel to ourselves.
My family is from the McAlister Clan so we knew we wanted to use the tartan - so red became our theme, which also worked perfectly with the decoration of the hotel and that it was Autumn. Anthony wore a neutral kilt, which was a total surprise to me as he told me he would be wearing a suit!
We couldn't have pulled everything together without our fantastic suppliers. It was really important to us that our guests would have lots of fun and that the dancefloor would be full all night, our DJ from KG Entertainments who were a recommendation by Nutfield - and they were brilliant. They accommodated my request for Scottish music and a father daughter dance which was so special.
Our cake was make by Mollie Dixon a friend of ours. Both my wedding dress and the groomsmen's kilts (and bow ties) came from White Dresses and Tiaras. They were also not fazed by our really tight timescale and were super helpful. Ashdown Events produced all our flower arrangements, they were simple and elegant, loads of people commented on them.
Jen Bright from Brightography was our photographer. We were actually one of her first weddings to shoot, but she was personal, competitively priced and most importantly unobtrusive (unlike other photographers at other weddings we have attended.) Our photos are beautifully natural, and we just love them.
The team at Nutfield were also incredible. Alex and Kirstie helped with all the planning and Marian and Chantelle made the day run seamlessly. The food was delicious and great portion sizes and I was so pleased that when I asked if we could have Scotch broth and halloumi on the menu they said yes!
If i had to pick the best part of the day, it would be the ceremony (obviously!) however it was also the small other touches that made it perfect, our wedding suite - Wordsworth is magical, we had a private breakfast the next morning with our guests that stayed and Nutfield gave us a teddy bear with our names and wedding date embroidered on it, a keepsake we will have forever.
