This May wedding at Nutfield Priory in Surrey was filled with sunshine, love and laughter and the couple will be back for years to come to celebrate.
Both Sam and Perry Langran knew that they wanted to have the ceremony and reception in one place so that guests were not having to travel anywhere during their special day, and as soon as they took one look at Nutfield Priory, the couple knew it was the venue for them. “The building is just stunning and the scenery is to die for, so beautiful,” exclaims Sam, before adding. “We were very lucky to have one of the hottest days of the year to get married which just made everything even more special.”
With the date set – 4 May – which just so happened to be Star Wars Day, it was now time to plan. Perry is a fan of the George Lucas’ films so there was a Star Wars themed seating plan adding a touch of geek chic to the wedding reception, the groomsmen all wore Star Wars pants and socks, and the couple walked into the wedding breakfast to the Imperial March. “It was all very tasteful and made it quite fun for the guests,” says Sam.
When it came to colours they went for pastel shades, which tied in perfectly with it being a spring wedding. The bridesmaids wore lilac and pink, and for the décor they went for bird cages and jars of flowers to help give it a vintage edge. Sam takes up the story again. “I was very happy with the outcome, and I was equally happy with all of our suppliers.
“They all did so fantastically. Our cake maker Gem, from Gorgeous Gems Bakery, was recommended from Nutfield and she did a brilliant job of our naked cake with fruit. She was very reasonable and I would highly recommend her to future bride and grooms.
“I found Star Discos online, who offered a fantastic package that included a DJ, photo booth, lighting and LOVE letters. The photo booth went down a treat – our guests absolutely loved it. Richy, the DJ, also really listened to us when discussing our music choices. Everyone had a ball, and him and his team did an amazing job that night. Everyone was up dancing including our two-year-old daughter and eight—year-old son, who stole the show with their dance moves!
“The one supplier who received a lot of praise that day was our photographer Stephen Johnson – he was brilliant. Our guests couldn’t praise him enough, from how friendly he was to what beautiful photos he took – we put 12 sneak preview pictures on Facebook that night to show everyone what he had done. From fun shots of the boys in their Star Wars pants to elegant photos of Perry and me, we have memories we will treasure forever from his stunning photos. I cannot recommend Stephen highly enough.”
Both Sam and Perry were also impressed by the service that they received at Nutfield Priory – Kirstie, their wedding coordinator was professional and happy to answer any of their questions – no matter how small they were, and was a joy to work with throughout the whole build-up to their wedding. “We then had Chantelle, Marion and Darren coordinating everything on the day itself, who were incredible. They were so attentive to all of our needs and wishes, and we cannot thank them enough for making our day so special.”
From the menu tasting to the food on the day, we are told it was all wonderful. “We both said we have never been to a wedding ourselves and felt so full – you normally find the portions at weddings quite small, but not ours. So many guests said the same thing, but also that it was some of the best food they have had at a wedding.
“Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Our children had the most fantastic day along with all our family and friends. And we cannot thank Nutfield enough for everything they did. It is a day we will never forget,” gushes Sam.
