Nestling at the foot of the Malvern Hills, Malvern Theatres is a major centre for the arts in the West Midlands. It comprises three auditoria: the 800 seat Festival Theatre, famous for its programme of top touring drama and musicals; the Forum Theatre, a flexible space used for concerts, dance and comedy, as well as a 300 seat cinema showing a varied programme of Blockbuster, International and kids films.
Hailed both locally and nationally as a model of artistic and architectural excellence, Malvern Theatres boasts a diverse programme of drama, comedy, music and dance and is certainly successful at attracting world-famous names. The internationally acclaimed new production of Waiting for Godot starring Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Simon Callow and Ronald Pickup opened at Malvern Theatres. This highly-anticipated play was both a box office and critical success, drawing to Malvern visitors from all over the country before the play departed on a sell-out tour and extended West End run. These acting giants were just the latest in a long line of internationally renowned film stars to appear at Malvern: a line-up that includes Joan Collins, Charlton Heston, Richard Dreyfuss, Jerry Hall, Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland among others.
